Aspire UCS Veterinary
Ultrasound services
We believe that all patients deserve the same high quality ultrasound care, whether human or animal.
Aspire UCS’s ethos is built on excellence, practice-relevance, ethical innovation, mentorship, and community.
Our aim is to elevate veterinary ultrasound from “we have the machine” to “we have the skill, the image quality, the confidence, the system, the diagnostic service”.
Experience has shown that improving ultrasound skills not only improves diagnostic outcomes and patient care, but also professional fulfilment. We continually strive to provide adaptive, high-end competency-based training and mentorship for individuals and teams, to support thriving ultrasound service delivery, build a strong veterinary practice reputation and maintain client loyalty.
About Us
Our Experience and Mission
At Aspire UCS, we are committed to ensuring all patients receive the highest standard of care. With almost four decades dedicated to clinical diagnostic ultrasound, both medical and veterinary, we’re bringing the very best of our expertise, business acumen and learning strategies to the veterinary world.
Our passion for high-quality care drives everything we do. Since the diagnostic potential of ultrasound depends on the operator, our goal is to help individuals and teams to become more confident and skilled, resulting in more accurate diagnoses, better patient outcomes, loyal clients and ultimately, a successful diagnostic ultrasound service.
We’ve refined our teaching through practical training at leading UK institutions, including universities, NHS Trusts, private medical providers, specialist veterinary referral hospitals and individual practices. By sharing our knowledge, we empower vets and nurses to enhance their ultrasound practice, improve patient care and secure a sustainable, thriving business .
ASPIRE UCS CHARITIES
WeCare Worldwide
In November 2023, we embarked upon a gruelling challenge covering over 450 km in a Tuk Tuk across Sri Lanka, raising money for several charities, including VetLife.
One the last two days of the trip, instead of loafing on the beach exhausted, we paid an unforgettable visit to the only small animal hospital on the island and fell in love with the incredible work that Janey and her team are doing to support the local communities and the 3 million plus street dogs that roam the island.
So, we asked them to show us their ultrasound system and got cracking on teaching the vets and vet nurses how to use their system for emergency point of care ultrasound scanning.
Darling Range WildLife Shelter
In October 2025, we travelled to Australia as part of a Welsh Government Trade Expedition to promote our ‘Lillie’ Canine Ultrasound Phantom Training Kit. At the end of our east coast trip, we headed over to Perth to demonstrate how our ‘8-Step Abdominal Ultrasound Survey Workshop’ can make all the difference to the confidence and competence of primary care veterinary practitioners. What we didn’t expect, was to meet Molly, an inspirational student vet nurse who has dedicated all her spare time to hand-rearing orphaned Joeys.
Sneaking a break between the practical sessions meant being able to bottle feed these super cute macropods…. and once again, we fell in love with the team behind this amazing charity at Darling Range Wildlife Shelter.
We couldn’t have been more excited to cram in those cuddles – must be a grandma thing!
Moving forward, Jules’ Joey has been renamed ‘Janice’ (seriously?) and we’ve learnt more about the time, energy and hard work that goes into preparing these baby roos for an independent life in the wild, eighteen months down the line!

We are two passionate co-founders from Wales, UK
Angie Lloyd-Jones
Angie began her career as a Diagnostic Radiographer in the late 1980s, starting her ultrasound journey in West Sussex in the early 1990s. Over the years, she worked across Wales and London, leaving behind skilled ultrasound practitioners in various specialties. Angie helped set up ultrasound services in numerous NHS hospitals, becoming a clinical tutor and lecturer for CASE-accredited programs.
Later, Angie joined Julie as Head of Ultrasound for a UK-wide imaging company, further honing her business and clinical management skills. She eventually transitioned to small animal ultrasound, recognising the challenges primary care vets face in training. Angie is passionate about quality, standards, and competency-based learning. During the Covid-19 lockdown, she and Julie co-authored professional guidelines for small animal abdominal ultrasound, endorsed by ECVDI and IVUSS. She is an award-winning professional speaker, and the visionary behind the ‘Lillie’ Canine Ultrasound Phantom.
Julie Burnage
Julie began her career as a Radiographer in North West England in the early 1980s, moving to North Wales in 1987. She started her ultrasound training in 1988 while also training to be a teacher to share her passion for ultrasound. In 1995, Julie founded an ultrasound company offering diagnostic scans in GP surgeries and clinics, advocating for ‘care closer to home’ despite skepticism from the imaging community. With support from forward-thinking radiologists, the business grew, eventually merging with another provider in 2013 and being acquired by venture capitalists in 2020.
In 2022, Julie became a Co-Director of Aspire UCS, providing a wealth of knowledge and business wisdom. She remains actively involved in developing new services for Aspire UCS as well as teaching vets, vet nurses, and medics. Julie and Angie co-authored the BMUS Small Animal Veterinary Guidelines for Professional Ultrasound Practice, which was published in December 2022, and endorsed by ECVDI.
